+We reduce their ship and they strike their colors.  We collect their weapons and move on.

+We find the entrance unguarded.  Actually blood smears.  And bloody boot tracks.  And dead Martians.  Actually one of them is till (barely) alive.
+As we travel down the corridor, we run into a bunch of martians.
