I throw a couple of stones down the corridor.  Nothing for a bit, then several shaggy forms scurry down the corridor towards us (see BeastMan).

    - RachelRoss runs up on them, swings and misses.

      - 2 attack RachelRoss
    - AlinaBrowning misses.
    - MichelStMarie shoots one, wounding it.
    - I shoot one.

    - I shoot and slash one (miss and no real effect)
    - Savages
      - 3 Attack RachelRoss, doing some unfortunate damage
      - 3 Attack me
      - 1 attacks MichelStMarie, shaking him
      - 1 attacks AlinaBrowning, but trips and is shaken.
    - DoctorGrant shoots with his fancy revolving pistola, and misses.
    - RachelRoss recovers and punches one of them.
    - MichelStMarie misses
    - AlinaBrowning shoots and hits one.

    - MichelStMarie misses with his pistol.
    - DoctorGrant shoots wild again.
    - ElizabethWhite does not know what to do
    - Rachel Ross punches one, shaking it.

      - One recovers and misses RachelRoss
      - 3 Attack me.  I manage to soak the damage.  Slipper Devil :)
    - AlinaBrowning grazes one with her pistol.
    - ElizabethWhite shoots the one on the ground, blowing it's head off with her shotgun

      - Attack RachelRoss and wounds her
      - Several attack me.  One scratches me.
    - MichelStMarie shoots at the one on RachelRoss, killing him.
    - I shoot and kill one of the ones on RachelRoss
    - ElizabethWhite holds (shotgun into melee no bueno)
    - RachelRoss backs away, defending herself.
      - As she backs away, the savage tries to hit him, but misses
    - AlinaBrowning kills one of the ones on me.
    - ElizabethWhite kilss the one that was attacking RachelRoss with her shotgun

    - AlinaBrowning shoots at one of ones I'm fighting (the last 2), shaking it
    - I hack at that one, and kill him.
    - RachelRoss ??
    - MichelStMarie misses.
    - DoctorGrant shoots the last one, wounding him.
    - ElizabethWhite finishes the last one off.

DoctorGrant runs up to RachelRoss and tends to her wounds.  He has a little bit of bother, but at least stops the bleeding.

The "Savages" appear to be mutated Martians!  DoctorGrant says they may have been citizens of [[RuinsOfBordobaar|Bordobaar]] at one time.

We put on our lamps and head down the dark corridor, slick with the blood of savages.  It leads down about 50 or a 100 yards into the mountain and down.  Its a great underground complex!

We come to a large room with stairs on the right up to a raised platform with several openings to other rooms.  There are three pillars along the edge of the platform.  At the far end of the room is a wide opening (24 feet). We hear screams as more [[BeastMan|BeastMen]] stream into the room through the far archway, and a few flood out onto the high platform to our right.

    - RachelRoss kills one of the ones on the platform
    - I shoot at the other, killing it.
    - Savages
      - They race across the room and attack!  They are remarkably swift!
      - A few attack me.  A couple miss, but the last one hit me good, but I shake it off.
      - RachelRoss is shaken as one almost gets a hold of her.  She recovers.
      - AlinaBrowning almost gets hit.
      - They miss MichelStMarie.
    - MichelStMarie shoots one, killing it.
    - ElizabethWhite shoots one in the face, killing it.
    - AlinaBrowning shoots the one between us (on my right flank), shaking it.
    - DoctorGrant ??

      - One of the slips and falls.
      - A couple attack me.  One hits me, but my Good British Helmet saves me.
      - //We can hear more of them coming!//
    - AlinaBrowning kills the one between us.  Quite the shot!
    - RachelRoss stabs one with her bayonet and kills it.
    - MichelStMarie kills another.
    - I pull my sword and kill the last one on me.
    - DoctorGrant shoots one.
    - ElizabethWhite shoots, almost hits MichelStMarie, but manages to kill the savage instead

    - I pull up my rifle and kill one on the platform.

    - RachelRoss shoots at the last savage on the platform, grazing him.

    - RachelRoss kills her target.
    - AlinaBrowning hits one, shaking it.
    - I run up on the platform, and kill one coming through the far archway.
    - MichelStMarie moves and shoots, killing the last one in the room.
    - More of them pour into the room
      - A couple attack me.  One of them claws me down my left side.  I can feel the dirt from under his nails speed through my blood.

    - MichelStMarie wounds one with his bayonet.
    - ElizabethWhite kills again!
    - DoctorGrant ??
    - AlinaBrowning moves up, but is blocked from shooting by me.
    - RachelRoss moves to get a shot and kills the one attacking me.

The good DoctorGrant treats the wounded.  He bandages my wounds and I feel good as new.

RachelRoss I go up on the platform and start to look through the doorways.  In a middle room, we find lots of bones.  Mix of animal bones, Martian, etc.  They look gnawed.  Some of the bones have been broken and the marrow removed.  Looking around a little more, we find a couple of those dirty nests.  An ancient sarcophagus has been broken open and is empty.  We find another similar room to the north.  More rooms.  One contains beer urns (unfortunately empty).

We also find one of the openings leads to a hallway to the east.  It opens to another large room.  We are on a platform on the west side of the room (along with a large fallen statue).  There is an exit to the north.  AlinaBrowning examines the statue. She thinks the statue predates the modern Martian civilization, and is dedicated to the Ancients.

I move to the lower portion of the room, covering the northern exit with my rifle.  I advance, and find a room to the north, with three pillars towards the south where I enter, and an exit on the north wall, in the northwest corner.  There  is an edge where the pillars are (but no stairs or ladders).  It appears to be an empty pool?

I go to wrap a rope around the central pillar to lower a rope down, but I notice a small door in the south wall, against the east wall.  I go and check it out first.  There is a room full of Savages.
