====== 2021.08.15 The Underground Road ======

++++ The Chase |
VincenteTornelli and FilippoTarantino lead some of the Crowes after the knights, while the rest of us stay with the wounded.  GiucamoTarantino is unconscious.

Vincente and 2 of the Crowes fall behind.

The men run into the knights, running //back// down the road.  They are wounded and a couple of them are unhorsed.  They attack.

  - Round
    - FilippoTarantino kills one.
    - Crowes "Do we want a prisoner or dead?" "Dead"  He kills another knight.

They end up killing all of them.  They notice their wounds seems to be caused by animals!

++++ Meanwhile |
We notice clouds rolling in.  It is a strange storm.  AmbrosioTornelli says it is a horde of demons.

++++ Where did he go? |
Everybody gets back, and we prepare to leave. We notice that the Baron is missing!
++++

++++ Flight in a Storm. |
As we flee, lightning strikes come closer.  Our wagon gets stuck in a pothole!  FilippoTarantino and a couple of the men free the wagon.

The scouts come back and tell us they have found some famous caves where we can take refuge.  We follow.

++++ Tunnel Rats|
We decide to continue underground. 

We continue underground for about a week (!).

Eventually, the rangers come back and report that there are strange, tusked men chanting and singing in a strange tongue.

We try to go around.  We wander a bit (3 days), but get back on track.

2 days into 3rd week: we hear some running water.  We send the rangers ahead.  Our path is cut off with a large underground river.

VincenteTornelli sees a ship coming down the river.  Maybe we can get them to help us across the river.

++++ Underground Boat |
VincenteTornelli hails them.  Asks them to help us get across.  They have holy mushrooms.

We cut a deal and get ferried across the river.
++++

++++ Tekili li |
We hear strange sounds in the dark.

A walking tree appears.  A walking tree with a toothed maw containing and eyeball.  Speaking strange sounds.  Eyeballs on branches. And more.

It comes towards AmbrosioTornelli, and he screams so loud it injures the tree!  FilippoTarantino "Fire!" and the Crows shoot off a volley.  Stalactites fall, and one hit it as well.  It starts a distress call.

We manage to kill it.

++++ Lost Rangers |
We leave and go in the direction the Rangers went.  We find one of the rangers cut in half and crushed.  We cannot find the other Rangers.  AmbrosioTornelli uses his magic wand to find the exit.

AmbrosioTornelli uses magic to see what happened. They rangers were attacked.  One was immediately killed and the other two turned into large wolves and fled into the darkness.

We wander on, and eventually find our way to the surface.

++++ Chanting |
We hear some loud chanting outside.  We can get out but not the cart.

Exit is in the courtyard of a castle with a strangely cut black stone in the middle, surrounded by peasants performing a chanting ritual.  Human sacrifice.
